Do you need a visa for Indonesia?
There is no single answer for every traveller. Indonesia uses different entry facilities and visitor visa categories, and eligibility depends on nationality, travel document, purpose of visit and intended stay.
For most holiday planning, the useful first comparison is between visa-free entry for eligible nationals, the B1 Visa on Arrival/e-VoA, and the C1 tourist visitor visa.
Do not assume Visa on Arrival is available to every passport.

02 Visa-free entry
Visa-free entry for eligible travellers
Indonesia’s A1 visa-free facility is available only to eligible nationalities. Under current immigration information, it allows a single entry with a stay of up to 30 days from arrival.
The key planning limitation is that an A1 visa-free stay cannot be extended. If you already expect to stay beyond 30 days, choose another appropriate entry route before departure.

03 Visa on Arrival
B1 Visa on Arrival and e-VoA
For eligible nationalities, the B1 Visa on Arrival is one of the most common visitor options for tourism. The initial stay is up to 30 days from arrival, and it may be extended once so the total stay reaches a maximum of 60 days.
The electronic version, usually called e-VoA, can be arranged through the official eVisa system before arrival.

04 Longer visitor stay
C1 tourist visitor visa
The C1 tourist visitor visa is a single-entry visitor visa with an initial stay of up to 60 days from arrival. Current immigration information states that the stay permit can be extended under its applicable rules up to a maximum total stay of 180 days.
The current official visa information lists a C1 visa fee of IDR 1,000,000. Application requirements and the exact flow should still be checked on official immigration channels before applying.
Visa validity and permitted stay are not the same thing.
A visa may have a period in which it must be used to enter Indonesia, while your permitted stay is counted separately after arrival.

For B1 Visa on Arrival/e-VoA, official immigration information requires a passport with at least six months validity and a return or onward ticket. Prepare these documents before departure and make sure any visa details match your passport details.

07 Arrival declaration
Complete the All Indonesia arrival declaration
Since 1 October 2025, international passengers arriving in Indonesia are required to complete the All Indonesia arrival declaration. The system combines arrival reporting for immigration, customs, health and quarantine into one digital process.
The declaration can be completed from three days before arrival or on arrival. The declaration itself is free.
All Indonesia is not a visa.
It is an arrival declaration. You still need the correct visa or visa-free eligibility for your journey.

Extension rules depend on the entry facility. A1 visa-free entry cannot be extended. A B1 VoA/e-VoA can currently be extended once to a maximum total stay of 60 days. A C1 visitor stay can be extended under its applicable rules up to the permitted maximum.
